History and legal services

The firm of HT Legal has grown from the amalgamation of three established and highly respected firms of solicitors that have been serving the Stockport and Hyde communities for over a century. Chronnell Fitzpatrick and Jones was established in 1880 and in 2000 merged with Percy Hibbert and Burden, also of Hyde – a firm whose origins also dates back two centuries. The enlarged firm of Chronnel Hibbert then merged in 2014 with Hyde and Glossop based solicitors Harrison Townend and Ormeshers, and in 2016 these historic identities were combined to become HT Legal (Ltd).

The core values we established almost 150 years ago when the firm was founded are as relevant today as they were then and have been the platform for our success ever since… we take a personal interest in your case, we employ sharp high-calibre lawyers, we don’t use jargon, we’re open and transparent about costs, we respond quickly and aim to be available when you need us and we’ll keep you fully informed and updated.

David is a core member of our Conveyancing Team, with extensive experience of all types of residential conveyancing, including sales and purchases and has dealt with many “new build” houses and apartments.

Tony has more than 30 years’ experience across the residential and commercial conveyancing spectrum. Transactions have ranged from individual houses through to factories, office buildings, complex portfolio acquisitions and property sales and lease-backs, for a number of high street retailers.

Prior to joining HT Legal he headed up his own firm and has worked at two of the North West’s premier practices, honing his corporate skills in what is a fast-moving and highly demanding environment. To succeed at this level requires the ability to assimilate vast amounts of information, interpret its relevance for clients and translate this into meaningful advice that is clear and unambiguous.

It is Tony’s capacity to absorb such information together with his thoroughness and attention to detail that has positioned him as one of the region’s most respected conveyancing lawyers. The strong loyalty of his existing clients is testimony to this capability.

More recently, his co-directors have recognised Tony’s managerial skills and, in addition to his transactional duties, Tony now operates as the company’s Managing Director.
